Il corso "Pluralismo religioso e integrazione europea", finanziato dall'Unione Europea come modulo Jean Monnet (2015-2018), mira:
a) all’acquisizione di strumenti concettuali e analitici per analizzare l’evoluzione della tutela del pluralismo religioso nel contesto europeo con particolare attenzione alla problematica della tutela multilivello;
b) alla capacità di applicare tali conoscenze nell’analisi di casi specifici delle corti sovranazionali sulla libertà religiosa.

Il corso "Pluralismo religioso ed integrazione europea" affronta il tema della convivenza, nelle società plurali europee, delle diverse fedi religiose, nell’ottica del processo di integrazione dei popoli per la costruzione di una cittadinanza europea inclusiva. Le questioni del pluralismo religioso, della libertà religiosa e della discriminazione religiosa riguardano sempre di più le Corti europee (Corte europea dei diritti dell'uomo e Corte di Giustizia), e questo trend è destinato a crescere in forza della futura adesione dell'UE alla CEDU e della natura ora vincolante della Carta dei fondamentali Diritti che tutela anche il diritto di libertà di pensiero di coscienza e di religione (art. 9 CEDU, art. 10 Carta dei diritti).

The course aims to:
a) build up conceptual and analytical tools to study the evolution of the religious pluralism’s protection in the European scenario;
b) to experience applications of this knowledge for analysing the case law of the supranational courts on freedom of religion.

The “Religious pluralism and European integration” module addresses the issue of pluralism and religions in multicultural European societies. While religious matters remain at the margins of EU competence, questions of religious pluralism and religious discrimination are increasingly reaching European courts and policy makers. Both are called to foster and build upon an inclusive European citizenry, respecting and promoting the diversity of the peoples of Europe. The issues of religious pluralism, religious freedom and religious discrimination are increasingly addressed by the European Courts (European Court of Human Rights and Court of Justice), and this trend is going to increase as a result of the EU's future accession to the ECHR and the now binding nature of the Charter of Fundamental Rights, which also protects the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion (Art. 9 ECHR, Art. 10 Charter of Rights).
