Introduction to Grant Writing

Objective of the course is: 

- Teach the basic skills of Grant Writing 

- Provide an overview of the European projects landscape (Horizon Europe in particular)

- Introduce basic strategies and tools to search for forthcoming calls (e.g. EU Funding&Tender portal)

The course is preceded by a lesson in which some aspects of contemporary science will be illustrated and discussed, from excessive competition for research funds and academic positions, to the constant growth of publications, from the uncritical use of bibliometric indexes to ethically questionable behavior.

After the course, the candidates will be able to approach a project proposal according to the standard sections required by most of the proposal templates, including in particular:

  • Objectives
  • Methodology (Work Packages, Tasks, Deliverables, Milestones)
  • Impact
  • Communication, Dissemination, Exploitation 
  • Project Management 

Target audience: Ph.D students (preferably 3rd year, not binding)

Participants (min/max): 48

The course will be structured in frontal lessons together with individual and group exercises. More information will be provided at a later stage.
