Studio avanzato sulle conoscenze dell’aterosclerosi carotidea.

L’ictus costituisce la terza causa di morte e la prima causa di invalidità nei Paesi Occidentali. Un terzo di tutti gli ictus sono causati da placche aterosclerotiche situate a livello carotideo.

Programma:

• Aterosclerosi carotidea: markers infiammatori, microbiologici, genetici.

• Fisiopatologia dell’ischemia cerebrale

• Diagnostica: ecocolordoppler, angioTC, angioRM, angiografia.

• Studio morfologico computerizzato della placca carotidea (GSM).

• Prevenzione dell’ictus.

• Terapia medica: antiaggreganti piastrinici e statine.

• Chirurgia carotidea: indicazione e tecnica.

• Chirurgia carotidea: sistemi di monitoraggio cerebrale, shunt, patch.

• Trattamento endovascolare (angioplastica e stent): indicazioni e tecnica.

• Trattamento endovascolare (angioplastica e stent): stent e sistemi di protezione cerebrale.

Iscrizione al quarto anno del Corso di Laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia

Lezioni frontali.
Discussione di casi clinici.
Preparazione di un elaborato in powerpoint basato su un articolo pubblicato.

Gli insegnamenti verranno erogati in modalità “in presenza”, salvo successive diverse disposizioni ministeriali legate all’emergenza pandemica

Improvement of the knowledge on carotid atherosclerosis.

Stroke is the third cause of death and the first for disability. Carotid atherosclerosis causes one third of overall strokes.

• Carotid atherosclerosis: emerging markers

• Pathophysiology: TIA and stroke

• Diagnosis

• GSM analysis

• Advance on medical therapy

• Advance on surgical therapy

• Advance on endovascular therapy

Medical Students at 4th year and over

Frontal didactic activities.
Clinical cases.
Set-up of a powerpoint presentation regarding a publihed paper.

Lessons will be provided in presence, subject to any ministerial changes following the COVID pandemic situation

The teaching resource will be indicated by the Faculty during the course

Second semester: March-April

Interactive verification at the course conclusion in order to ensure the learning of the take-home messages.
