Obiettivi

Aims

In obstetrics, there is a gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, at all levels of education and training.

On the one hand, the student may have some difficulties to learning the normal vaginal delivery mechanisms and moreover of dystocia, i.e. breech delivery, use of vacuum and shoulder dystocia.

On the other hand, the obstetric emergencies occur in situation and clinical contests, given the peculiarity of the 'birth event', where the access for the student is limited. The main emergencies (Post-partum hemorrhage, eclampsia and maternal collapse) are infrequent but not rare conditions, that may threaten the well-being of 'fetal-maternal system'.
The mannequin using and the role playing method can be useful for bridge 'the theory-practice gap'. The course will increase the consciousness that the practice and in team management of the delivery wher mother and child are both involved is even a challenge for modern medicine.
