Course Syllabus
Obiettivi
Al termine del corso, lo studente dovrebbe aver acquisito conoscenze nell’ambito della Microbiologia Medica, con particolare riferimento alle principali specie di microrganismi e virus patogeni per l'uomo, alla loro interazione con l’ospite e ai loro meccanismi di patogenicità. Tali conoscenze saranno acquisite mediante lezioni teoriche e pratiche, utili ai fini della diagnosi eziologica differenziale di patologie infettive, richiesta ed interpretazione dei principali esami di laboratorio. Inoltre lo studente dovrà apprendere strategie per la prevenzione, controllo e sorveglianza delle malattie infettive.

Modalità didattica
La didattica del corso si svolgerà in presenza.
La modalità didattica è di natura erogativa per il Modulo A e di natura interattiva per il Modulo B, con attività di laboratorio.

Modalità di verifica del profitto e valutazione
La modalità di valutazione del Corso di Microbiologia Medica consiste in esame scritto ed orale.
L’esame scritto è composto da
- Test a Risposte Chiuse (20 Quiz con scelta a risposta multipla, di cui una sola esatta) e
- Due Domande Aperte.
L'esame orale consiste in colloquio di discussione sullo scritto.

Aims
At the end of the course, students should have acquired knowledge of Medical Microbiology, with particular reference to the main species of microorganisms and viruses associated with human diseases as well as knowledge on their interaction with the human body and their ability to cause diseases. This knowledge will be acquired through theoretical and practical lessons aimed at developing skills in making differential aetiological diagnosis of infectious diseases and knowledge for the appropriate request and interpretation of clinical microbiological investigations. Moreover students should understand the principal strategies for the prevention, control and surveillance of infectious diseases.

Teaching form
The teaching of the course will take place in presence.
In particular, the teaching form for Module A will consist of frontal lessons and for Module B of interactive teaching, including laboratory activities.

Assessment method
The assessment method of the Medical Microbiology Course consists in a written and oral exam:
The written exam will be based on:
- Test with closed answers (20 multiple choice questions with a choice of 5 closed answers of which only one answer is correct)
- Two Open Questions.
The oral exam will mainly focus on the discussion of the answers to the written exam.
