Il corso si propone di offrire allo studente un’esperienza diretta nel campo della ricerca storica in ambito medico, con i seguenti obiettivi:

  • conoscenza e comprensione dei metodi e delle fonti utilizzati nella ricerca storico-medica;
  • capacità di applicare le conoscenze acquisite per svolgere attività di ricerca documentale, analisi critica di fonti primarie e secondarie, e stesura di testi scientifici;
  • autonomia di giudizio nell’elaborazione di ipotesi storiografiche e nella valutazione della rilevanza e attendibilità delle fonti;
  • abilità comunicative nello scrivere contributi scientifici e nel presentare in modo chiaro e coerente i risultati della propria ricerca;
  • capacità di apprendimento attraverso un’esperienza di affiancamento individuale, sviluppando competenze utili anche per il proseguimento degli studi o per progetti di tesi.

Attività di ricerca nel campo della storia della medicina, con particolare attenzione agli aspetti metodologici, bibliografici e documentari. Lo studente sarà coinvolto in progetti scientifici in corso o in nuove linee di ricerca.

Lo studente sarà inserito nelle attività di un laboratorio di ricerca storico-medica, affiancando un docente-storico della medicina nello svolgimento di:

  • ricerche bibliografiche e archivistiche;
  • analisi e interpretazione di fonti storiche (testuali, iconografiche, materiali);
  • progettazione e stesura di un contributo scientifico (articolo o relazione finale).

Iscrizione al Corso di Laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia, dal 2° anno in poi.
Interesse per la storia della medicina e disponibilità a un lavoro autonomo e personalizzato.

L’attività si svolge in presenza secondo modalità di affiancamento individuale, con supervisione da parte del docente responsabile.
Il calendario viene concordato con lo studente.

Lingua di erogazione: italiano con eventuale possibilità di pubblicare un lavoro scientifico in lingua inglese.

Non previsto un testo unico.
Le fonti, i documenti e i riferimenti bibliografici saranno forniti dal docente in base al progetto di ricerca concordato.

Da concordare con lo studente, nel corso del secondo semestre.

Valutazione individuale basata su:

  • partecipazione attiva alle attività di ricerca;
  • contributo effettivo alla stesura di un elaborato scientifico (paper, recensione, comunicazione o abstract);
  • eventuale presentazione orale o discussione finale.

This course offers students a practical introduction to historical research in the field of medicine. The main goals are:

  • knowledge and understanding of historical research methods and sources related to the history of medicine;
  • the ability to apply acquired knowledge to carry out bibliographic and archival research, critically analyze primary and secondary sources, and draft scientific texts;
  • independent judgment in developing historiographical hypotheses and assessing the reliability and relevance of historical sources;
  • communication skills for writing scientific contributions and presenting research results in a clear and coherent manner;
  • learning skills through individual mentoring, promoting autonomy in research and preparation for further academic projects or theses

Participation in research activities in the field of the history of medicine, with a focus on methodology, documentary sources, and scientific writing. Students will contribute to active research projects or develop new ones under the supervision of a faculty member.

Students will be integrated into the activities of a history of medicine research lab and will collaborate with a medical historian in tasks such as:

  • bibliographic and archival research;
  • analysis and interpretation of historical sources (textual, visual, material);
  • design and drafting of a scientific contribution (paper, report, or final essay).

Enrollment in the Degree Program in Medicine and Surgery, from the second year onward.
Interest in the history of medicine and willingness to engage in independent and guided research work.

In-person activity based on individual or small-group supervision by the course instructor.
The schedule is defined in agreement with the student.

Language of instruction: Italian, with the possibility of publishing a scientific paper in English.

No required textbook. Readings, sources, and bibliographic references will be assigned based on the agreed research topic.

Flexible, to be arranged with the student during the second semester.

Individual evaluation based on:

  • active participation in research activities;
  • effective contribution to the drafting of a scientific output (e.g. article, review, communication, or abstract);
  • optional oral presentation or final discussion.
