Obiettivi formativi

Il corso fornisce le basi teoriche e applicative della finanza aziendale, con l'obiettivo di sviluppare competenze analitiche per le decisioni di investimento e finanziamento d'impresa. Il percorso didattico si articola in moduli, che affiancano alla finanza aziendale classica due aree emergenti di crescente rilevanza professionale e accademica: la finanza imprenditoriale (Entrepreneurial Finance) e la finanza sostenibile (Sustainable Finance / ESG).
L'approccio è problem-based: ogni argomento teorico è accompagnato da casi aziendali reali, esercizi quantitativi e discussione critica della letteratura.
Al termine del corso, lo studente sarà in grado di:
• Applicare i principali metodi di valutazione degli investimenti
• Analizzare la struttura del capitale e stimare il costo del capitale
• Comprendere le specificità del finanziamento di imprese in fase di avvio (startup, VC, crowdfunding)
• Valutare strumenti di finanza sostenibile (green bond, SLB) e criteri ESG
• Valutare investimenti in start-up

  • Comprendere differenze tra paesi intermini di fianza ll'imprenditorialità e al'innovazione

Il corso adotta un approccio blended che combina:
• Lezioni frontali con presentazioni strutturate e derivazioni analitiche
• Esercitazioni quantitative su problemi numerici e problem set settimanali
• Case study discussion (Harvard Business School format) su imprese reali
• Guest lecture di professionisti del settore (VC manager, ESG analyst, entrepreneur)
• Lavori di gruppo con presentazione finale (project work)

Learning objectives

The course provides the theoretical and applied foundations of corporate finance, with the aim of developing analytical skills for investment and financing decisions. The curriculum is structured in modules that complement classical corporate finance with two emerging areas of growing professional and academic relevance: Entrepreneurial Finance and Sustainable Finance / ESG.
The approach is problem-based: every theoretical topic is accompanied by real-world business cases, quantitative exercises, and critical discussion of the literature.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Apply the main investment valuation methods
Analyze capital structure and estimate the cost of capital
Understand the specificities of financing early-stage ventures (startups, VC, crowdfunding)
Evaluate sustainable finance instruments (green bonds, SLBs) and ESG criteria
Assess investments in startups
Understand cross-country differences in the financing of entrepreneurship and innovation

Group work with a final presentation (project work)
