Obiettivi
La finalità generale del corso è quella di far acquisire allo/alla studente/studentessa una conoscenza approfondita dell’evoluzione dell’assistenza infermieristica dal punto di vista storico, professionale e come specifico ambito conoscitivo.

Acquisire chiavi di lettura della storia dell’assistenza infermieristica, anche attraverso dei cenni introduttivi alla metodologia della ricerca storica.
Programma esteso
Chiavi di lettura per lo studio della storia dell’assistenza e dell’assistenza infermieristica. Alcuni quadri storici: antichità e avvento del Cristianesimo; i Riformatori dell’assistenza; La situazione sanitaria ed iniziative assistenziali in Italia tra Settecento e Ottocento. Florence Nightingale e le moderne scienze infermieristiche. Il 900 e i primi anni 2000 in Italia. Cenni introduttivi alla metodologia della ricerca storica: un esempio di ricerca storica condotta per una tesi di Laurea Magistrale in Scienze Infermieristiche.

The course aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the historical evolution of nursing care from historical, professional, and disciplinary perspectives.
Contents
Historical development of nursing care. Key approaches to the study of nursing history. Introduction to historical research methodology. Major milestones in the evolution of the nursing profession.
Detailed program
The course explores the historical development of nursing care and the nursing profession through key historical and methodological perspectives. Students will examine different approaches to the study of the history of healthcare and nursing, together with the social, cultural, and organizational contexts that have shaped the profession. Topics include healthcare and nursing in antiquity and the rise of Christianity; the contribution of the major reformers of healthcare; healthcare conditions and welfare initiatives in Italy between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; the legacy of Florence Nightingale and the emergence of modern nursing science; and the development of nursing in Italy throughout the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
The course also provides an introduction to historical research methodology, including the use of historical sources and research methods, illustrated through a case study based on a historical research project conducted as part of a Master's Degree dissertation in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences.
