The Doctorate course in Marine Sciences, Technology and Management (MTM) is a consortium doctorate offered by the University of Milano-Bicocca with the Italian Institute of Technology -IIT.

The two research institutions aim to share their expertise on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) most relevant to the marine field. The Ph.D. is in line with the EU Starfish 2030 Horizon Europe program, as well as with some of the marine topics addressed by the nascent National Center for Biodiversity. The course also aims at promoting the goals of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).

Ph.D. students will have the opportunity to use cutting-edge laboratories within the Department of Environmental and Earth Sciences as well as at the Italian Institute of Technology. The MaRHE Center infrastructure, a research center for higher education located in the Maldives, which was created thanks to the agreement between the University of Milano-Bicocca and the Republic of Maldives, will also be made available to students.
