Scopo del modulo è fornire allo studente gli strumenti necessari alla comprensione degli aspetti culturali e sociali della medicina moderna, attraverso l’analisi della sua evoluzione storica ed epistemologica. Le conoscenze fornite costituiscono la base per saper adeguatamente collocare l’attività del medico nell’attuale contesto socio-culturale.

Il modulo consiste in otto lezioni dove verranno affrontate le seguenti tematiche partendo dalla storia fino alla modernità: Il concetto di salute - La comprensione del corpo umano - Ospedali e chirurgia - Vaccini: controversie e sfide - La paura delle pandemie e l’avvento della farmacologia - La nascita della Sanità Pubblica - La malattia mentale - Ciarlatanismo medico

Ogni lezione prevede insegnamento frontale e lavoro a gruppi. Il docente offre agli studenti testi antichi e moderni riguardanti il tema della lezione frontale e chiede ai gruppi di discutere riguardo ai contenuti dei testi presentati.

Esame finale è composto da esame scritto.

Il test è composto da domande a scelta multipla, gli studenti scelgono una corretta risposta tra varie scelte allo scopo di valutare le competenze conoscitive e interpretative.

The aim of the module is to provide students with the tools for understanding the cultural and social aspects of modern medicine, through the analysis of its historical and epistemological evolution. The knowledge provided is the basis for knowing how to properly place the activity of the physician in the current socio-cultural context.

Every lesson consists in frontal teaching and group work. The teacher provides ancient and modern texts on subjects of the lecture and asks the groups to discuss on the contents of these texts.

Final exam consists in a written test

The test consists in multiple-choice questions; students select one correct answer from several choices in order to evaluate the cognitive and interpretative skills.
