Obiettivi
Scopo del modulo Storia della Medicina è fornire allo studente gli strumenti necessari alla comprensione degli aspetti culturali e sociali della medicina moderna, attraverso l’analisi della sua evoluzione storica ed epistemologica. Le conoscenze fornite costituiscono la base per saper adeguatamente collocare l’attività del medico nell’attuale contesto socio-culturale.

Medicina Greco-Romana, Medicina medievale, Rinascimento, Barocco e Illuminismo, Romanticismo e Positivismo, Medicina nel Novecento.
Programma esteso
L'origine delle malattie e il concetto di patocenosi. Medicina nelle popolazioni antiche. Il medioevo e il rischio della carità. Il Rinascimento e la scoperta del corpo umano. Medicina Barocca e Illuminismo. Il Diciannovesimo secolo e la vera età della medicina scientifica. La Medicina nel Ventesimo secolo.
Prerequisiti
Modalità didattica
Lezioni frontali. Durante
le lezioni, il docente promuoverà momenti di discussione tra gli studenti su
problemi relativi alla medicina moderna, coinvolgendo gli studenti e chiedendo
loro di riportare esperienze personali e di riflettere sull'evoluzione del concetto di salute e del rapporto medico-paziente
Nel periodo dell'emergenza COVID-19, le lezioni saranno registrate e somministrate in asincrono

Modalità di verifica del profitto e valutazione
Esame finale: Esame scritto a domande chiuse a scelta multipla e singola risposta esatta (12 domande) e domande a risposta aperta sintetica (2 domande), per valutare le conoscenze di base la comprensione di un argomento e per valutare le competenze conoscitive e interpretative dello studente.

Aims
The
aim of the module History of Medicine is to provide students with the tools for
understanding the cultural and social aspects of modern medicine, through the
analysis of its historical and epistemological evolution. The knowledge
provided is the basis for knowing how to properly place the activity of the
physician in the current socio-cultural context.

Greco-Roman
Medicine, Medieval Medicine, Renaissance, Baroque and Enlightenment,
Romanticism and Positivism, Medicine in the Twentieth Century.
Detailed program
The rise of diseases and the concept of pathocenosis. Medicine in ancient populations. The Middle Ages and the charity in medicine. Renaissance and the discovery of human body. Baroque and Enlightenment. The nineteenth century and the true age of scientific medicine. The Twentieth Century: excelsior in Medicine.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites requested by the course "Medicine and Society"
Teaching form
Lectures. During the lessons, the teacher promotes discussion among students on problems related to modern medicine, involving students and asking them to report personal experiences and to reflect on the evolution of the concept of health and of the relationship between doctor and physician.
During the COVID-19 emergency, the lectures will be recorded and asynchronously delivered

Semester
Assessment method
Final exam: written test with closed multiple-choice questions with only one correct answer (12 questions) and short-answer questions (2 questions), in order to assess the basic knowledge and understanding of a topic and to evaluate the cognitive and interpretative skills.
During the COVID-19 emergency, the exam can be done online
