Obiettivi formativi
Il corso fornisce gli strumenti economici necessari per saper comprendere i problemi
derivanti dal potere di mercato delle imprese, analizzare i loro comportamenti strategici e l'attività antitrust che mira a modificarli. L'enfasi è sulla trattazione modellistica, ma saranno discussi anche un certo numero di casi di studio presi dal mondo reale.

Prerequisiti
E’ importante che gli studenti abbiano familiarità coi metodi della microeconomia e con l'algebra e il calcolo differenziale di base.

Esame scritto finale (a causa dell'emergenza COVID-19 durante la sessione invernale 2021gli esami prenderanno la forma di una intervista a distanza).

course provides the economic tools needed to understand the welfare problems arising from
firms' market power, their strategies and the competition policy that aims to affect them.
It offers a rigorous presentation that aims to blend theory with real-world applications.

The course aims to provide an extensive and up-to-date presentation of modern industrial organization, within the time limits imposed by a semester of teaching.

- Sources of Market Power: product differentiation and advertising.
Prerequisites
It is important that
students are familiar with microeconomic thinking and elementary methods of algebra and calculus.
Teaching methods
Lectures. Durig the Covid-19 emergency they will take place as pre-recordered lectures plus simultaneous video-conferences.
Assessment methods
Written final test (due to the COVID-19 emergency during the winter 2021 session the examination will take the form of a remote interview).
