Syllabus del corso
Obiettivi formativi
Lo studente sarà in grado di conoscere l’evoluzione spazio-temporale del mercato turistico, individuando le principali direttrici dei flussi fisici ed economici del turismo e maturerà la capacità di comprendere e riconoscere le diverse tipologie di spazi turistici, delle trasformazioni territoriali derivanti dall’attività turistica e degli strumenti applicabili dai diversi attori nell’implementazione delle politiche turistiche.
Lo studente potrà acquisire la capacità di illustrare e spendere le competenze acquisite in tema di turismo e di confrontarsi sulle tematiche connesse ai problemi di organizzazione spaziale, alle politiche di governance e agli strumenti sostenibili applicabili al settore turistico.
Contenuti sintetici
Il corso si prefigge di illustrare caratteristiche e modalità di funzionamento del mercato turistico utilizzando un approccio multidisciplinare ed esaminando alle diverse scale i cambiamenti spaziotemporali delle direttrici dei flussi turistici valutandone contemporaneamente gli effetti socio-economici ed ambientali sulle dinamiche territoriali.
Programma esteso
La struttura del corso è articolata in tre parti. La prima parte, dopo brevi richiami all’evoluzione della teoria geografica e ai suoi legami con il turismo, dedicherà particolare attenzione agli aspetti strutturali del settore, alle tipologie di flussi turistici e ai diversi approcci allo studio del sistema turistico.
La seconda parte esaminerà più in dettaglio la mappatura dei flussi turistici ed illustrerà i modelli spaziali di localizzazione turistica e il ruolo degli attori ai diversi livelli di governance.
L’ultima parte sarà invece focalizzata sugli aspetti relativi al turismo sostenibile con riferimento al quale verranno esposti possibili strumenti utilizzabili ed esempi di best practices.

Learning objectives
The student will be able to know the space-time evolution of the tourist market, identifying the main guidelines of the physical and economic flows of the tourism and will mature the ability to understand and recognize the different types of tourism spaces, the territorial changes resulting from the tourist activity and the tools used by the different actors in the implementation of tourism policies.
The student will be able to acquire the ability to explain and spend the skills acquired about tourism and discuss the issues related to problems of spatial organization, governance policies and sustainable tools applicable to the tourism sector.
Contents
The course aims to explain characteristics and mode of operation of the tourist market using a multidisciplinary approach and examining at different scales the spatio-temporal changes of the guidelines of tourist flows evaluating at the same time the socio-economic and environmental effects on territorial dynamics.
Detailed program
The structure of the course is divided into three parts. In the first part, after brief reminders to the evolution of geographical theory and its links with the tourism, special attention will be given to the structural aspects of the sector, the types of tourist flows and the different approaches to the study of the tourism system.
The second part will examine deeply the mapping of tourist flows and will explain the spatial patterns of tourist location and the role of the players at the different levels of governance.
The last part will be focused on aspects related to sustainable tourism with reference to which will be exhibited possible tools that can be used and examples of best practices.
