Obiettivi
Scopo dell’insegnamento è sviluppare la comprensione del rapporto tra diritto ed etica in campo sanitario.
Il corso si propone di accrescere le capacità critiche degli studenti nell’affrontare temi eticamente sensibili.

Programma esteso
Il corso è finalizzato a dare agli studenti una panoramica dei principali concetti del diritto sanitario e della bioetica, come il diritto alla salute e la sua tutela, la relazione medico-paziente, il consenso informato, ecc.
Si analizzerà il ruolo del diritto e dei meccanismi di governance nell’affrontare una serie di questioni etiche e di policy sanitaria. Gli argomenti trattati potranno ricomprendere: equità e sostenibilità dei sistemi sanitari, temi bio-giuridici quali l’interruzione volontaria della gravidanza, la procreazione medicalmente assistita, le decisioni di fine vita e altre questioni di attualità.Particolare attenzione sarà dedicata alla comparazione tra esperienze di Paesi diversi.
Prerequisiti
Iscrizione al primo anno del
Corso di Laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia. Per poter sostenere l’esame non sono previsti altri prerequisiti specifici.
Modalità didattica
Lezioni frontali.
Agli studenti è richiesto di partecipare attivamente alle lezioni con la preparazione di casi di studio e approfondimenti su argomenti specifici, così da contribuire all’apprendimento in aula.
In caso di restrizioni dovute all'emergenza COVID-19, eventuali cambiamenti nelle modalità della didattica saranno comunicati agli studenti via email o sulla piattaforma e-learning.

Modalità di verifica del profitto e valutazione
Agli studenti è richiesto di lavorare in gruppo e
di condurre una discussione in aula (con presentazioni, analisi di casi di
studio) su uno degli argomenti del corso. Al termine delle lezioni riceveranno
una valutazione del loro impegno, che potrà eventualmente essere integrata con
un esame orale.
In caso di restrizioni dovute al COVID-19, eventuali cambiamenti delle modalità d'esame verranno comunicate immediatamente agli studenti via email o attraverso la piattaforma e-learning.

Aims
The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the relationship between law and ethics in the health care field.
The course
aims at enhancing students’ skills of critical thinking in addressing ethically
sensitive issues.
Contents
Outline of how law, regulation and governance mechanisms deal with medical practice and the guarantee and implementation of health-related rights, with particular regard to bioethical issues. Analysis of how they shape the organization and development of health care systems.
Detailed program
This course aims at giving students an overview of the main concepts of health law and bioethics, such as the right to health and its protection, the physician-patient relationship, informed consent, and so on.
It examines the role of legislation and governance mechanisms in tackling a range of present ethical and health policy issues. Topics may include: equity and health system sustainability, bio-law themes like abortion, assisted human reproduction, end of life decisions and other contemporary issues.
Particular
attention will be devoted to comparing experiences of various countries.
Prerequisites
Being enrolled in the 1st year of the School of Medicine and Surgery. There
are no other special pre-requisites to be fulfilled before sitting the examination.
Teaching form
Classroom lessons.
Students are required to participate actively in lessons with the preparation
of case studies and in-depth studies on specific topics. This will offer
the opportunity to contribute to collective learning in class.
In case of COVID-19 restrictions, possible changes in the teaching method will be communicated via email or on the e-learning platform.
Textbook and teaching resource
Study materials will be
assigned during lessons.
When possible, teaching material will be published on the moodle platform.

Assessment method
Students are expected to
lead a class discussion (with presentations, analyses of case studies) with a small
group of other students on one of the course topics. At the end of the teaching
activities, students will receive an assessment of their commitment, which may
be integrated with an oral exam.
In case of COVID-19 restrictions, any changes to the assessment method will be communicated immediately to students via email or through the e-learning platform.
