Aims

The aim of this course (Psychiatry I and II) is to provide the students with the basic information on principles of classification, psychopathology, diagnosis, and main treatment approaches of mental disorders.

Contents

A comprehensive overview on epidemiology, classification, psychopathology, diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of main mental disorders.

  • Signs, symptoms, aetiology, and classification of mental disorders
  • Schizophrenia spectrum-disorders and paranoid syndromes
  • Depression
  • Bipolar Disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Obsessive compulsive disorders
  • Personality and personality disorders
  • Alcohol and substance use disorders
  • Stress and stress-related disorders
  • Psychological and psychosocial interventions
  • Eating disorders
  • Mental Health care delivery systems
  • Emergencies in psychiatry

Prerequisites

Neuroscience 1

Teaching form

The lessons will be provided in attendance, if feasible with ongoing ministerial rules for COVID pandemic situation. Teaching will be based on frontal lessons.
