Fornire allo studente esperienza diretta sulla gestione, cura ed assistenza a favore dei malati oncologici e non oncologici – adulti e minori - che sviluppano condizioni di cronicità complessa ed avanzata presi in carico dalle strutture ospedaliere, hospice e domiciliari nell’ambito delle reti locali di cure palliative attraverso équipe specialistiche dedicate.

Conoscere la semeiotica e le problematiche cliniche del paziente inguaribile
Conoscere le scale di valutazione dei bisogni specifici per le cure palliative
Riconoscere i diversi atteggiamenti e risposte emozionali davanti alla malattia inguaribile, al morire, alla morte, al lutto
Identificare i fattori che promuovono una comunicazione empatica e personalizzata con il paziente e/o i suoi famigliari
Riconoscere i bisogni fisici, psicologici, sociali, esistenziali e spirituali del paziente e della famiglia, nonché i possibili quadri patologici correlati alla condizione di fine vita ed i relativi sintomi
Identificare i fattori che favoriscono il lavoro di équipe

Lo studente affiancherà il medico-tutore durante la sua giornata lavorativa previa visita guidata alle strutture della rete

  • Discussione dei casi clinici che affrontino i seguenti argomenti:
    • Trattamento farmacologico dei sintomi più frequenti
    • Sintomi severi, refrattari e sedazione palliativa
    • Comunicazione con il paziente e famiglia
    • Aspetti psicologici, esistenziali e spirituali, la morte e il lutto
  • Utilizzo delle scale di valutazione per l’identificazione e la VMD del bisogno di cure palliative
  • Consenso informato e pianificazione anticipata delle cure
  • Partecipazione ad una riunione in équipe

Conoscenza della semeiotica e metodologia clinica, della fisiopatologia e della farmacologia

Attività pratica di tirocinio professionalizzante nei setting assistenziali della Rete Locale di Cure Palliative: ospedale, ambulatorio, domicilio e in hospice.

To provide students with direct experience in the management, care, and assistance of oncological and non-oncological patients - adult and paediatric patients - who develop complex and advanced chronic conditions under the care of hospital, hospice, and home care facilities within local palliative care networks through specialized teams.

Know the semeiotics and the clinical problems of the incurable patient.
Knowledge of assessment scales for specific palliative care needs.
Recognizing different attitudes and emotional responses in the face of incurable illness, dying, death, and mourning.
Identifying factors that promote empathetic and personalized communication with patients and/or their families.
Recognizing the physical, psychological, social, existential, and spiritual needs of patients and families, as well as possible pathological conditions related to end-of-life situations and their associated symptoms.
Identifying factors that facilitate teamwork.

The student will accompany the supervising physician during their working day, following a guided tour of the network's facilities.

  • Discussion of clinical cases addressing the following topics:
    • Pharmacological treatment of the most common symptoms.
    • Severe, refractory symptoms, and palliative sedation.
    • Communication with patients and families.
    • Psychological, existential, and spiritual aspects, death, and mourning.
  • Utilization of assessment scales for identifying and assessing the need for palliative care.
  • Informed consent and advance care planning.
  • Participation in team meetings.

Knowledge of clinical semiotics and methodology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology.

Practical training activities in the care settings of the Local Palliative Care Network: hospital, outpatient clinic, home care, and hospice.

Fifth and sixth year of the degree course.

Interview with a discussion of a clinical case from those encountered during the internship, where the student must critically analyze the case, identifying care and assistance objectives.
