Obiettivi formativi

Fornire le principali coordinate delle politiche sportive contemporanee. Sviluppare capacità di analisi delle trasformazioni territoriali e delle politiche di gestione del territorio. Favorire la capacità di intepretazione di aspetti specifici dell'organizzazione sociale come profondamente connessi alle dinamiche sociali di lungo periodo.

Contenuti sintetici

Il corso propone un'analisi dello sport, come pratica sociale e come campo di politiche, come un elemento fondamentalee paradigmatico nella costruzione delle politiche contemporanee di gestione e trasformazione del territorio. Verranno approfondite le caratteristiche dello sport in prospettiva storica e con particolare attenzione allo sport contemporaneo. Si proporrà una riflessione circa le principali modalità con cui lo sport entra nei differenti livelli di gestione delle politiche urbane e territoriali.

Il corso affronterà il tema delle relazioni tra sport e territorio, concentrandosi in particolare sulle seguenti tematiche:
Lo sport come prospettiva di analisi sociale.
Le trasformazioni sociali e territoriali contemporanee.
Lo sport contemporaneo.
Sport e globalizzazione.
Sport e branding territoriale.
Grandi eventi sportivi e politica urbana.
Sport e riqualificazione sociale.
Sport, sicurezza e controllo sociale.
La sportivizzazione.
Gli spazi dello sport: fan zones, stadi.
Sport e turismo.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

  1. Presentazioni, durante le lezioni, di articoli accademici da selezionare dalla piattaforma di e-learning. Gli articoli, per lo più in inglese, saranno indicati durante il corso.
  2. Valutazione di una relazione, prodotta durante il corso e presentata a fine corso, su temi proposti nelle prime settimane di lezione.

Per tutti gli altri studenti l’esame sarà ORALE e si svolgerà in lingua italiana

La bibliografia è composta da una selezione di articoli/capitoli di libri in lingua inglese disponibili su piattaforma e-learning.

Verranno valutate chiarezza espositiva, precisione terminologica, capacità di analisi critica.

Learning objectives

Provide the main coordinates of contemporary sports policies. Develop skill in the analysis of territorial transformations and land management policies. Foster the ability to understand specific issues of social organization as deeply connected to long-term social dynamics.

Contents

The course offers an analysis of sport, as a social practice and as a policy field, as a fundamentaland paradigmatic element in the construction of contemporary spatial management and territorial transformation policies. The characteristics of sport in historical perspective and with particular attention to contemporary sport will be explored. A reflection will be presented about the main ways in which sport enters the different levels of management of urban and territorial policies.

Detailed program

The course will address the issue of the relationship between sports and the territory, focusing in particular on the following topics:
Sport as a social analysis perspective.
Contemporary social and spatial transformations.
Contemporary sport.
Sport and globalization.
Sport and urban branding.
Major sporting events and urban policy.
Sport and social regeneration.
Sport, security and social control.
Sportivization.
Sports spaces: fan zones, stadiums and more.
Sport and tourism.

Assessment methods

Presentations of academic articles to be selected from the e-learning platform. The articles, mostly ar in English, ill be indicated during the course.

Evaluation of a paper produced and presented during the course on topics proposed in the early weeks of the course.

For all other students, the exam will be oral.

The bibliography is composed of a selection of articles/chapters of books in English available on e-learning platform.

Expository clarity, accuracy of terminology, critical analysis skills will be evaluated.
