Course Syllabus
Obiettivi
Tumori e patologie simil-tumorali.

Sustainable Development Goals
Aims
To provide the pathologic basis of locomotor system diseases. The student should be able to integrate macroscopic, histological, and cytological morphology with the clinical assay. The student must know the role and the professional tasks of the pathologist in the management of bone and soft tissue samples.
Contents
Morphology of non-neoplastic diseases of bone and joints; pathogenesis, classification and morphology of soft tissue and bone tumours.
Detailed program
Non-neoplastic diseases of bone, with particular emphasis on the histopathological characteristics of fractures, osteomyelitis, bone necrosis and Paget disease. The WHO classification (Pathology and Genetics) of soft tissue and bone tumours. General concepts of epidemiology, age and site distribution, aetiology and clinical features, histopathological typing of soft tissue and bone tumours; histogenesis, morphological criteria of benignity and malignancy, grading and staging of sarcomas. Joints: synovial biopsy in degenerative joint disease and rheumatoid arthritis; tumours and tumor-like conditions.
