Obiettivi formativi

Al termine del corso, lo studente sarà in grado di:

Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione
Conoscere i fondamenti teorici, storici ed etici del servizio sociale, con riferimento sia ai paradigmi professionali che ne hanno guidato l’evoluzione, sia ai principi codificati a livello nazionale e internazionale.

Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate
Applicare in modo integrato i principi teorici ed etici del servizio sociale alle diverse fasi del processo metodologico professionale, riconoscendone la rilevanza nei contesti operativi.

Autonomia di giudizio
Riflettere criticamente sui diversi modelli interpretativi del ruolo del servizio sociale, valutando le implicazioni teoriche, etiche e storiche per l’agire professionale.

Abilità comunicative
Argomentare con chiarezza e rigore le proprie riflessioni su principi, valori e trasformazioni del servizio sociale, utilizzando un linguaggio professionale e disciplinare adeguato.

Capacità di apprendimento
Sviluppare un atteggiamento riflessivo e orientato all’autoapprendimento, utile per il continuo aggiornamento sui riferimenti teorico-deontologici e sulle trasformazioni della professione.

Che cos’è il servizio sociale? Perchè il servizio sociale? Definizioni del servizio sociale nel contesto nazionale
Promuovere la giustizia sociale in pratica: le competenze del servizio sociale e la lente del servizio sociale anti-oppressivo
Il lavoro sociale nella storia: beneficienza, assistenza, giustizia sociale
Il posizionamento del servizio sociale nei sistemi di welfare, tra mandato organizzativo e mandato professionale

Programma esteso

Nel corso verranno presentati i concetti teorici chiave e le questioni etiche rilevanti per la pratica del servizio sociale con l'obiettivo di far acquisire consapevolezza sui presupposti teorici e valoriali che guidano l’azione professionale e sulle loro trasformazioni nella storia e nel presente.
La prima parte del corso ricostruisce la storia e le radici valoriali e organizzative del servizio sociale, con l'obiettivo di rispondere alla domanda su che cosa è il servizio sociale e quali sono i fondamenti su cui si basa.
La seconda parte del corso approfodnisce invece la parte sulle competenze e le lenti del servizio sociale a partire dalle teorie critiche e dall'approccio antioppressivo e dalla questione della riflessività come pratica del servizio sociale, in stretto dialogo e relazione con il Codice Deontologico degli Assistenti Sociali e la Dichiarazione Globale dei Principi Etici del Servizio Sociale.

Metodi didattici

Le lezioni sono costruite alternando la discussione dei concetti teorici a esercitazioni di gruppo, utili a sperimentare l’applicazione dei concetti alla pratica professionale.
La didattica erogativa sarà circa il 60%, e il restante sarà didattica interattiva e non sarà erogata didattica da remoto

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

Esame orale che mira a verificare la conoscenza dei principi e dei fondamenti del servizio sociale.
L'esame consisterà in due domande aperte a cui rispondere. Per superare l'esame è necessario rispondere in modo sufficiente a entrambe le domande.
La prova orale punta a verificare le conoscenze e la comprensione dei concetti e dei contenuti fondamentali del corso, la capacità di fare connessioni e collegamenti tra gli argomenti, la capacità di rielaborare in modo personale i temi affrontati.

Learning objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to:
Knowledge and understanding: Know the theoretical, historical and ethical foundations of social work, with reference to both the professional paradigms that have guided its evolution and the principles codified at national and international level.
Applied knowledge and understanding: Apply the theoretical and ethical principles of social work in an integrated manner to the various stages of the professional methodological process, recognising their relevance in operational contexts.
Autonomy of judgement: Reflect critically on the different interpretative models of the role of social work, assessing the theoretical, ethical and historical implications for professional practice.
Communication skills: Argue clearly and rigorously one's reflections on the principles, values and transformations of social work, using appropriate professional and disciplinary language.
Learning skills: Develop a reflective and self-directed learning attitude, useful for continuous updating on theoretical and ethical references and on the transformations of the profession.

Detailed program

The course will present the key theoretical concepts and ethical issues relevant to the practice of social work, with the aim of raising awareness of the theoretical assumptions and values that guide professional practice and how these have changed throughout history and in the present day.
The first part of the course reconstructs the history and the roots of the values and organisation of social services, with the aim of answering the question of what social services are and what their foundations are.
The second part of the course, on the other hand, focuses on the skills and perspectives of social work, starting from critical theories and the anti-oppressive approach, and the question of reflexivity as a practice of social work, in close dialogue and relation with the Code of Ethics of Social Workers and the Global Declaration of Ethical Principles of Social Work.

Teaching methods

The lessons are structured by alternating the discussion of theoretical concepts with group exercises, useful for experimenting with the application of the concepts to professional practice.
The didactic will be approximately 60% expositive, and the remainder will be interactive and no online teaching will be provided.

Assessment methods

Oral examination aimed at testyfing t knowledge of the principles and fundamentals of social work.
The exam will consist of two open questions to be answered. A satisfactory answer to both questions is required to pass the exam.
The oral exam aims to assess students' knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts and content of the course, their ability to make connections and links between topics, and their ability to rework the topics covered in a personal way.
