Obiettivi
Comprendere il processo di valutazione delle tecnologie in ambito sanitario, acquisendo la capacità di leggere e strutturare un report di HTA.
Contenuti sintetici
Il corso fornisce agli studenti i principi, i concetti e i metodi impiegati nelle procedure di valutazione delle tecnologie sanitarie. Approfondisce gli approcci multidimensionali coinvolti nell'HTA, includendo biostatistica e metodologia economica utilizzate per valutare le evidenze (Overall Strength of Evidence).
Programma esteso
Introduzione di nuove tecnologie: processi di approvazione e rimborso.
Prospettiva multidisciplinare dell’HTA e ruolo delle agenzie nazionali e internazionali di HTA.
Struttura del rapporto HTA: revisione delle misure di efficacia clinica, analisi dell'impatto economico e valutazione complessa tramite il modello di Markov.
Revisioni sistematiche in HTA. Come sintetizzare i risultati: forest plot e funnel plot.
Prerequisiti
Non ci sono corsi obbligatori, tuttavia gli studenti trarranno beneficio dall’aver seguito i corsi di “biostatistics”, “health economics” e “Turning Clinical Experience Into Research Projects”.

Modalità di verifica del profitto e valutazione
L’esame richiederà a ciascuno studente di preparare un report di un caso di studio su un argomento a piacere. Questo report sarà presentato durante l’esame e costituirà la base per la successiva prova orale. Ulteriori istruzioni saranno fornite durante il corso.

Aims
Understanding the process of technology assessment in healthcare, being able to read and structure a HTA report.
Contents
The course provides students with principles, concepts and methods employed in the technology assessment procedures. Understanding of the multidimensional approaches involved in the HTA, including biostatistics and economic methodology employed in order to assess the Overall Strength of Evidence.
Detailed program
Introduction of new technologies: approval and reimbursement processes.
Multidisciplinary perspective of HTA and role of National and international HTA agencies.
HTA report structure: review of clinical efficacy measures, Review of Economic impact index and complex assessment using Markov model.
Systematic reviews in HTA. How to synthesize results: forest and funnel plot.
Prerequisites
There are no mandatory courses however students will benefit from having undertaken “biostatistics”, “health economics” and “Turning Clinical Experience Into Research Projects”.

Frontal lesson with theory and applications and small pair activities.

Assessment method
The exam will require each student to prepare a case study report. This report will be presented during the exam and will serve as the foundation for the subsequent oral examination. Additional instructions will be provided throughout the course.a
