Obiettivi

Al termine del corso, lo studente sarà in grado di:
Acquisire conoscenze approfondite sulla strumentazione utilizzata nelle diverse tecniche di imaging diagnostico

  1. Conoscere e comprendere il funzionamento e le applicazioni cliniche delle apparecchiature a raggi X, ecografia (US), risonanza magnetica (RM), medicina nucleare e delle modalità diagnostiche ibride come PET/TC e PET/RM.
  2. Valutare i vantaggi, i limiti e le specificità di ciascuna tecnica in relazione ai diversi contesti clinici.
  3. Comprendere le tecnologie impiegate nella radioterapia
  4. Acquisire familiarità con le apparecchiature per la radioterapia a fasci esterni, incluse le tecniche avanzate come IMRT, IGRT, protonterapia e altre modalità innovative.
  5. Comprendere il ruolo dell’imaging integrato nel guidare e ottimizzare i trattamenti radioterapici.
  6. Apprendere gli aspetti farmacologici e normativi relativi ai radiofarmaci e ai mezzi di contrasto
  7. Comprendere i meccanismi d’azione, la farmacocinetica, la farmacodinamica e i profili di sicurezza dei radiofarmaci e dei mezzi di contrasto usati nelle indagini diagnostiche e nella terapia con radionuclidi.
  8. Conoscere gli aspetti normativi e legali collegati alla produzione, uso e gestione dei mezzi di contrasto e radiofarmaci, inclusi i requisiti di sicurezza e le procedure di approvvigionamento e smaltimento.
  9. Sviluppare una solida base di anatomia clinica radiologica
  10. Riconoscere le principali strutture anatomiche di riferimento attraverso lo studio delle immagini radiologiche convenzionali, di tomografia computerizzata (TC), ecografia e risonanza magnetica (RM).
  11. Utilizzare la conoscenza anatomica come base essenziale per l’interpretazione clinica e la valutazione diagnostica delle immagini.

  12. Capacità di integrare conoscenze tecniche, farmacologiche e anatomiche per un uso efficace e sicuro delle tecniche di imaging e terapia radiometabolica.
  13. Abilità critica nell’interpretazione e nella valutazione delle immagini mediche in relazione ai bisogni diagnostici e terapeutici.
  14. Consapevolezza delle norme di sicurezza e delle regolamentazioni vigenti legate all’uso di dispositivi medici, radiofarmaci e mezzi di contrasto.

Conoscenza e Comprensione - Padronanza delle modalità di imaging, dei principi radiobiologici, delle terapie con radionuclidi, della farmacologia e dei quadri normativi.
Applicazione della Conoscenza e Comprensione: - Capacità di interpretare studi diagnostici e terapeutici, applicare dati di imaging per guidare decisioni di trattamento e utilizzare conoscenze farmacologiche in contesti clinici.
Capacità di Valutazione: - Valutazione critica dell’appropriatezza dell’imaging, dell’idoneità della terapia e delle considerazioni di sicurezza nei percorsi diagnostici e terapeutici.

L'esame consiste in una prova scritta con domande a scelta multipla o aperte. Le domande mirano a verificare le conoscenze dello studente. Ad ogni domanda a scelta multipla viene assegnato un punteggio compreso tra 0 e 0.5; a ciascuna domanda aperta è
attribuito un punteggio compreso tra 0 e 5. La lode viene assegnata in caso di prove particolarmente meritevoli.
Criteri di valutazione: conoscenze teoriche, capacità di sintesi, capacità nell'applicazione di metodi diagnostici ad uno specifico contesto clinico o sperimentale.

Aims

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Acquire in-depth knowledge of instrumentation used in various diagnostic imaging techniques
  2. Understand the principles, functioning, and clinical applications of X-ray systems, Ultrasound (US), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, and hybrid imaging modalities such as PET/CT and PET/MRI.
  3. Evaluate the advantages, limitations, and specific uses of each technique in different clinical contexts.
  4. Understand the technologies employed in radiotherapy
  5. Gain familiarity with external beam radiotherapy equipment, including advanced techniques such as Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), proton therapy, and other innovative modalities.
  6. Comprehend the role of integrated imaging in guiding and optimizing radiotherapy treatments.
  7. Learn the pharmacological and regulatory aspects of radiopharmaceuticals and contrast agents
  8. Understand the mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety profiles of radiopharmaceuticals and contrast agents used in diagnostic imaging and radionuclide therapy.
  9. Acquire knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to the production, use, handling, and disposal of contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals, including safety and procurement procedures.
  10. Develop a solid foundation in clinical radiological anatomy
  11. Recognize key anatomical structures through the study of conventional radiology, computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
  12. Use anatomical knowledge as an essential basis for clinical interpretation and diagnostic evaluation of imaging studies.
    Cross-Disciplinary Competencies Developed
  • Ability to integrate technical, pharmacological, and anatomical knowledge for the effective and safe use of imaging and radiometabolic therapy techniques.
  • Critical skills in the interpretation and assessment of medical imaging related to diagnostic and therapeutic needs.

Assessment method

The course exam consists of a written exam with multiple-choice questions or open questions.
The questions aim at verifying the student's knowledge. Each multiple-choice question is given a score between 0 and 1; each open questions is given a score between 0 and 5. Laude is assigned in case of particularly deserving tests.

Evaluation criteria: theoretical knowledge, synthesis skills, ability in the application of diagnostic methods to a specific clinical or experimental contest.
