Obiettivi formativi
Lo/a studente/ssa alla fine del corso avrà acquisito conoscenze sistematiche per la comprensione e l’analisi delle realtà geografiche dell’offerta e della domanda turistica sia attraverso lo studio teorico di strumenti, metodi e procedimenti scientifici (DdD1), sia attraverso l’applicazione a un particolare studio di caso (DdD2). Con una assidua frequenza delle lezioni e un adeguato studio personale coadiuvato dal docente e dalle altre figure di riferimento, sarà in grado altresì di affrontare in autonomia lo studio geografico-turistico di aree e ambiti territoriali diversi da quelli affrontati (DdD5), applicando i diversi concetti studiati in un’ottica sia sincronica sia diacronica con un acquisito spirito critico (DdD4) e una buona capacità comunicativa (DdD5).
Contenuti sintetici
Il corso si concentra sugli schemi interpretativi del fenomeno turistico propri della geografia e finalizzati all’elaborazione di modelli teorici ed applicativi per l’analisi geografica.
Programma esteso
Il corso prevede una parte istituzionale metodologica e una parte monografica applicata.
Per quanto riguarda la prima, più nomotetica: dopo un inquadramento generale della disciplina condotto con particolare attenzione per le definizioni dei concetti di base, si affrontano una per una le principali branche del sapere geografico applicandole al fenomeno turistico. Gli approcci seguiti sono pertanto l’economico, il politico, l’umano, l’ambientale e il percettivo, esposti secondo la loro comparsa nella produzione scientifica italiana.
Per quanto riguarda la parte monografica, più idiografica: dopo aver ripreso e adeguatamente approfondito i concetti di riferimento, si procede con l’analisi di studi di caso che vertono su mete di turismo presso aree protette di tutto il mondo.

Metodi didattici
Tutte le attività sono svolte in presenza secondo le seguenti modalità:
- 22 lezioni da 2 ore ciascuna svolte in modalità erogativa in presenza, con ausilio di presentazioni illustrative, schematiche e riassuntive;
- 6 lezioni da 2 ore ciascuna svolte in modalità erogativa nella parte iniziale, volta a coinvolgere gli studenti in modo interattivo nella parte successiva.
Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Le prove d’esame sono due scritte (2h30’ in totale per entrambe le prove) e una, eventuale e su richiesta dello/a studente/ssa, orale.
- Lo/a studente/ssa svolge in aula un saggio sugli argomenti della parte istituzionale (votazione in trentesimi).
- Lo/a studente/ssa risponde per iscritto in maniera sintetica (8 righe) a tre domande aperte sulla parte monografica (votazione in trentesimi).
- Lo/a studente/ssa può a questo punto accettare la verbalizzazione della media aritmetica delle due prove scritte, oppure richiedere di essere interrogato oralmente su tutto il programma d’esame. In tal caso, la Commissione d’esame attribuisce un voto in trentesimi sull’insieme delle due prove scritte e della prova orale.
La valutazione di tutte le prove d’esame – basata su pertinenza, completezza, originalità e correttezza linguistica – sarà finalizzata a determinare l’approfondimento e la maturità con i quali è avvenuto l’apprendimento degli obiettivi formativi specifici.
La votazione è espressa in trentesimi (sufficienza: 18/30), con la possibilità di lode per lavori meritevoli, secondo la tradizione accademica italiana.
Non sono previste prove in itinere.

Learning objectives
By the end of the course, students will have acquired systematic knowledge for understanding and analysing the geographic realities of tourism supply and demand both through the theoretical study of scientific tools, methods and procedures (DdD1) and through application to a particular case study (DdD2). With assiduous attendance of lectures and adequate personal study aided by the lecturer and the other reference figures, the student will also be able to independently tackle the geographic-tourist study of areas and territorial ambits other than those addressed (DdD5), applying the various concepts studied in both a synchronic and diachronic perspective with an acquired critical spirit (DdD4) and good communication skills (DdD5).
Contents
The course focuses on the interpretative schemes of the tourism phenomenon proper to geography and aimed at the elaboration of theoretical and applied models for geographical analysis.
Detailed program
The course includes an institutional methodological part and an applied monographic part.
As for the former, more nomothetic: after a general framing of the discipline conducted with special attention to the definitions of basic concepts, the main branches of geographical knowledge are addressed one by one, applying them to the tourism phenomenon. The approaches followed are therefore the economic, the political, the human, the environmental, and the perceptual, exposed according to their appearance in Italian scientific production.
As for the monographic part, more idiographic: after resuming and adequately deepening the reference concepts, it proceeds with the analysis of case studies focusing on tourism destinations in protected areas around the world.

Teaching methods
All activities are carried out in presence as follows:
- 22 two-hour lectures conducted in the in-presence delivery mode, with the help of illustrative, schematic and summary presentations;
- 6 two-hour lectures conducted in delivery mode in the initial part, aimed at engaging students interactively in the subsequent part.
Assessment methods
The examination tests are two written (2h30' total for both tests) and one, if any and at the student's request, oral.
- The student performs an essay in the classroom on the topics of the institutional part (grade in thirtieths).
- The student responds in writing concisely (8 lines) to three open-ended questions on the monograph part (grade in thirtieths).
- The student may at this point accept the verbalization of the arithmetic average of the two written tests, or request to be questioned orally on the entire examination program. In that case, the Examination Committee shall award a grade in thirtieths on the entirety of the two written tests and the oral test.
The evaluation of all examination papers - based on relevance, completeness, originality and linguistic correctness - will be aimed at determining the depth and maturity with which the learning of the specific educational objectives took place.
The grade is expressed in thirtieths (passing grade: 18/30), with the possibility of honours for meritorious work, in accordance with Italian academic tradition.
There will be no in-progress tests.
