  1. Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione - Il corso si propone di trasmettere alle/agli studenti le conoscenze teoriche necessarie per individuare e capire le sfide (locali e globali) che il mutamento sociale pone al social work contemporaneo.

  2. Capacità di applicare conoscenza e comprensione - Le/gli studenti svilupperanno la capacità di utilizzare strumenti concettuali e metodologici per analizzare in chiave empirica le sfide poste al servizio sociale dalle tendenze di mutamento sociale.

  3. Autonomia di giudizio - Attraverso lezioni, discussioni guidate e attività di gruppo, le/gli studenti saranno stimolati a formulare riflessioni autonome sulla relazione tra social work e mutamento sociale.

  4. Abilità comunicative - Il corso promuove la capacità di comunicare con chiarezza, anche in contesti interdisciplinari.

  5. Capacità di apprendimento - La struttura del corso incoraggia l’apprendimento attivo e la capacità di approfondimento individuale, fornendo strumenti per capire le trasformazioni e il futuro del social work.

Obiettivi del corso:

  • evidenziare le principali tendenze di mutamento sociale;
  • analizzare la relazione tra sfide globali e locali e servizio sociale;
  • riflettere sul futuro del social work.

Il corso, erogato in lingua italiana, è composto da due parti interdipendenti.

  1. La prima parte illustrerà i concetti fondamentali per il corso: mutamento sociale, megatrends, globalizzazione, corsi di vita, generazioni, vita quotidiana.
  2. La seconda parte si soffermerà sulla relazione tra tendenze di mutamento sociale (trend globali) e corsi di vita familiari e individuali e sulle sfide che il servizio sociale-social work è chiamato ad affrontare nel XXI secolo.

Verrà altresì fornita una panoramica delle principali tecniche di ricerca per lo studio del social work e dei suoi mutamenti.

Il corso si compone di 56 ore, di cui indicativamente il 60% con DE-didattica erogativa (lezioni frontali con utilizzo di slides) e il 40% con DI-didattica interattiva (lavori di gruppo, discussione di casi di studio, progettazione e definizione di presentazioni con slides/PPT da esporre in aula).

Esame scritto: 10 domande chiuse a scelta multipla (1,5 punti per ogni risposta corretta) e una aperta (max 15 punti) sui testi OBBLIGATORI del programma d'esame (REQUIRED READINGS). Le domande d'esame saranno formulate sulla base dei testi obbligatori indicati nel programma e saranno finalizzate a verificarne lo studio e la comprensione.

Le/gli studenti con almeno il 75% di presenze alle lezioni potranno scegliere di svolgere un lavoro di gruppo come integrazione alla prova d’esame.
Scopo del lavoro di gruppo è progettare e realizzare una presentazione con slide/PPT finalizzata ad approfondire una delle tematiche trattate durante le lezioni e dai testi (obbligatori e consigliati) del programma d'esame. Nello specifico, il lavoro dovrà trattare una delle sfide principali per il social work nel XXI secolo evidenziandone le caratteristiche e le implicazioni per il servizio sociale.
Il lavoro potrà essere svolto singolarmente o a piccoli gruppi (massimo 4 persone per gruppo) e dovrà essere presentato e discusso in aula prima della fine delle lezioni.
La presentazione con slide dovrà essere definita rispettando le norme che saranno illustrate all'inizio del corso.

*Studenti Erasmus: è consigliato l'esame standard (il corso è erogato in Italiano), con domande aperte e chiuse sui testi obbligatori in inglese (programma per studenti Erasmus). Le domande per le/gli studenti Erasmus saranno formulate in lingua inglese.

  1. Knowledge and Understanding - Students will acquire theoretical knowledge to identify and understand the main challenges that local and global social change pose to contemporary social work.

  2. Applying Knowledge and Understanding - Students will be able to apply conceptual and methodological tools to the empirical analysis of how current social transformations impact the practice and aims of social work.

  3. Making Judgements - Through lessons, group work, and class discussion, students will practice thinking critically and forming their own opinions about how social work can respond to the challenges posed by social change.

  4. Communication Skills - The course aims to encourage effective communication tailored to diverse audiences, including interdisciplinary teams and professional environments.

  5. Learning Skills - The course structure encourages active learning, providing tools to understand the transformations and future of social work.

The course aims to:

  • identify the main trends of social change;
  • analyse the relationship between global and local challenges and social work;
  • reflect on the future social work.

The course, which is delivered in Italian, consists of two interdependent parts.

  1. The first part will introduce the key concepts of the course: social change, megatrends, globalization, life courses, generations, everyday life.
  2. The second part will focus on the relationship between social change (global trends) and individual and family life courses, as well as the challenges that social work is called to address in the 21st century.

The course will also provide an overview of the main research tools used in social work to explore its connection to social change.

The course consists of 56 hours, of which about 60 percent will be standard lectures with the use of slides and 40 percent will be interactive teaching (group work promoting peer learning and interactions, case study discussions, and the design and preparation of slide/PPT presentations to be presented in class).

Written exam: 10 multiple-choice questions (1.5 points for each correct answer) and one open-ended question (worth up to 15 points) based on the REQUIRED READINGS from the course syllabus. The questions are designed to assess students' knowledge and understanding of the required readings.

Students who attend at least 75% of the classes may choose to complete a group project, which will be taken into consideration as part of their overall assessment alongside the written exam. The aim of the group project is to design and deliver a slide/PPT presentation that explores one of the topics discussed during the course and in the required and recommended readings. Specifically, the presentation should focus on one of the main challenges facing social work in the 21st century, highlighting its key characteristics and implications for the profession.
The slide/PPT presentation can be done individually or in small groups (up to 4 students per group), and it needs to be presented and discussed in class before the course ends.
The slide presentations should follow the guidelines that will be explained at the beginning of the course.

*Erasmus students: Since the course is taught in Italian, Erasmus students are advised to take the standard exam. The standard exam consists of 10 multiple-choice questions and one open-ended question based on the required readings for Erasmus students. The exam questions will be provided in English.
