A brief introduction to the theoretical contents of the discipline will be followed by a critical analysis of the meta-geographies and geographical categories of contemporary geopolitical discourse. Then, the city will be analyzed as a political space and as a symbolic landscape. Particular attention will be paid to the analysis of the representation of the city in popular geopolitics. -
The course is divided into three parts; the first includes an introduction to "critical geopolitics" and to the critical reinterpretation of the disciplinary tradition. The second focuses on the analysis of the city as a public space where political activity is exercised, as a symbolic landscape and as a political actor. The third, of an applicative nature, is focused on the vision and reading of texts of "popular geopolitics", of different origins, where the relationship between humans and animals in urban space is represented.
