Students who scored less than:
- 10 on the “MATHEMATICS” section of the English TOLC-I test;
will have additional training obligations, which must be completed within the first year of the course.
Students will be able to meet the additional training obligations by passing the final exam of the "Mathematics Refresher-OFA" course, organised by the School of Sciences.
Anyone who fails that test will not be allowed to sit for any exam for years subsequent to the first year until they pass the“Calculus” exam contemplated for Year I.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT?
The Mathematics Refresher Course is a teaching support programme aimed at students entering degree programmes in the sciences, designed to consolidate fundamental mathematical skills and facilitate a smooth transition into university life.
WHEN, WHERE AND HOW
From September 2026 until the start of the academic term, lectures and classroom-based seminars will be held in the mornings and afternoons. The timetable and the start date of the lectures will be published on the University’s e-learning platform and on https://www.scienze.unimib.it/it/richiami-matematica/richiami-matematica;
In October and November 2026, the lectures and tutorials held in person in September will be made available online, accompanied by additional teaching materials. Students will also be able to meet with tutors individually or in small groups, by appointment, for clarification, practice exercises and further discussion, on a ‘drop-in’ basis until the final examination takes place (scheduled for November 2026)
HOW TO TAKE PART
Attendance at the lectures is open to all and free of charge.
Students must register for the course on the University’s e-learning platform in order to take part in the online activities and sit the final exam.
