Dear students, I am pleased to share an internship opportunity abroad for Master 2 students that I recently came across, within the MARIANNE and MAASAI teams at the Centre Inria d'Université Côte d'Azur. Students who are interested are encouraged to contact the relevant persons directly and also inform me, as we could also consider a joint project.
Title: Multi-source Online Topic Modeling
Duration: 6 months – starting April 15, 2026 (fixed)
Location: Centre Inria d'Université Côte d'Azur, Sophia Antipolis
Stipend: ~600 €/month (standard French internship gratification)
Profile: Master 2 student (or equivalent) in Statistics, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence.
Description: Online topic models are unsupervised algorithms designed to identify latent topics in textual data streams that evolve over time. The goal of this internship is to extend SB-SETM, an innovative online topic model leveraging the Embedded Topic Model and continuous optimal transport, to a multi-source setting in which document batches originate from different information sources at each time step. Experiments will be conducted on disinformation datasets to analyze how sensitive topics are framed and evolve across heterogeneous sources over time.
Keywords: Topic Modeling, Natural Language Processing, Disinformation Detection.
