To submit the thesis assignment request, the student must send the following completed and signed documents via email to the teaching office (didattica.fisica@unimib.it):
• “Master’s Thesis Request in Astrophysics and Space Physics” - form
• “Master’s Thesis Request – Module 1 (Mandatory Attachment)

If the thesis is conducted internally, no additional documents are required. However, for an external thesis, one of the following forms must also be attached, depending on whether the thesis is carried out in Italy or abroad and whether it involves exposure to ionizing radiation:
• “Thesis Request – Letter A (External Thesis in Italy) if the thesis is conducted at a company or institution in Italy and does not involve exposure to ionizing radiation
• “Thesis Request – Attachment A/1 (External Thesis in Italy with Ionizing Radiation Risk) if the thesis is conducted at a company or institution in Italy and involves exposure to ionizing radiation
• “Thesis Request – Letter A* (External Thesis Abroad) if the thesis is conducted at a company or institution abroad and does not involve exposure to ionizing radiation
• Thesis Request – Attachment A*/1 (External Thesis Abroad with Ionizing Radiation Risk)” if the thesis is conducted at a company or institution abroad and involves exposure to ionizing radiation

If the thesis involves exposure to ionizing radiation, the student must also provide a copy of the radiation protection sheet, which must be arranged with the Qualified Expert. For more details, refer to the Physics Department website here

For external theses, if the work is supervised by an external advisor, an internal advisor must also be assigned. Refer to the Regulations for the Final Examination for details on the roles of internal and external advisors.

For thesis activities conducted outside the university campus, students must be covered by an accident insurance policy and obtain prior authorization using the “Physics Travel Authorization” form. Therefore, students carrying out their thesis work entirely or even partially outside the campus must have the Physics Travel Authorization” form signed by the internal advisor and send it via email to: protocollo@unimib.it and didattica.fisica@unimib.it

For theses conducted under the Erasmus program, students may omit the Letter A or Letter A/1 form and the Physics Travel Authorization form if, at the time of submitting the thesis assignment request, they can provide a Mobility Agreement confirming financial and insurance coverage during the Erasmus program.

Students will only be contacted if their thesis assignment request is not approved. If no communication is received, the request is considered approved.
