For the management of elective internships students enrolled in the master’s degree program in Medicine and Surgery are required to select the specific internships to attend in the Academic Year 2024/2025.

Students must express up to a maximum of 4 preferences. Based on the preferences expressed by the student and their academic career, a ranking list will be compiled.

The choice of elective internships must be completed exclusively through the procedure available on SEGRETERIE ONLINE. Each student will be able to view only the list of internships offered by their degree program. 

Each student must indicate an ORDER OF PREFERENCE (where position 1 corresponds to the activity of highest interest.)

The procedure for the selection of elective internships will open on February 28, at 12:00 noon and will close on March 6, 2025, at 12:00 noon.

The RANKING LIST will be compiled according to the following criteria, as approved by the “Consiglio di Facoltà” on June 7, 2010, for Elective Courses:

a. The first criteria considers the student’s course year:

students enrolled in a higher year shall prevail on students enrolled in a lower year (therefore the former will be ranked higher).

For the master's degree in Medicina e Chirurgia (in Italian) the following specific condition will also apply: students enrolled in their last year who have not successfully passed all the exams up to the fourth year included, with the exclusion of courses which are evaluated by simple attendance, will be considered equal to fifth year students.

b. The second criteria (applicable only to students in their last year): students in their last year who have acquired a number of credits for elective activities lower than the minimum required by their course regulations will be preferred.

In the case of a draw, the following conditions will also be considered:

- first, the order of preference expressed by the student;

- second, the weighted average of the exams as of November 30, 2024;

- third, the younger student shall prevail.

The number of internships that can be allocated to each student is: 

• Max 3 internships for the master’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (in English) 

The ranking list will be published on March 7, 2025, from 12:00 noon.

From March 7, at 12:00 noon, to March 13, 2025, at 12:00 noon, students are required to CONFIRM their choices. 

To allow for subsequent updates of the ranking list, all the tentatively allocated internships that are not confirmed by the student will be cancelled.

A ranking list for the allocation of vacant places will be published on March 14, 2025, from 12:00 noon.

From March 14 at 12:00 noon to March 20 at 12:00 noon, students selected for the vacant places will be required to confirm their enrolment in those courses.

NOTICE

If a student does not confirm an internship that has been tentatively allocated to him/her, the student will not be successfully enrolled in that elective internship and will not be allowed to attend it under any circumstances. 

All the elective internships that are confirmed by a student become part of their study plan and must be attended compulsorily before the end of the current calendar year.

Students who wish to attend an ELECTIVE INTERNSHIP included in their study plan in a previous academic year and NOT ATTENDED must:

• verify that the same internship is offered again in a.y. 2024/2025.

• follow the procedure for the choice of elective internships described above and SELECT THE SAME internship.

• If the internship is ALLOCATED and then CONFIRMED by the student, IMMEDIATELY INFORM the Student Secretariat (segr.studenti.medicina@unimib.it).
