Although the ocean has always played a fundamental role in most human activities, geography has largely ignored marine spaces. In recent years we are facing a blue turn where the ocean becomes a hot topic in recent research, as it appears also from the goals of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-203).
