Course Syllabus
Obiettivi
The purpose of the internship is to provide the student with a basic foundation in the diagnosis and management of the principal onco-hematological diseases (acute and chronic leukemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma and related plasma cells dyscrasias, anemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms…).
Contenuti sintetici
This internship provides supervised clinical education in onco-hematological diseases management, including:
- clinical management,
- exam and procedural skills,
- interpretation of diagnostic data,
- patient counseling,
- development of diagnostic and management plans, and inter professional communication both in the inpatient and the outpatient setting.
Programma esteso
Students should be able to understand, define, describe, and discuss:
- Basic methods of initial evaluation of onco-hematological diseases,
- Diagnosis, treatment and management of the acute and chronic leukemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma and related plasma cells dyscrasias, anemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms…
- Evaluation of various symptoms seen during chemo-immunotherapy treatments and the basic principles of their management (e.g., pain, dyspnea, nausea and vomiting, anorexia, fatigue, constipation).
- Indications, contraindications, and complications of the stem cell transplantation and of the other cellular therapies.
Prerequisiti
Examination of the onco-hematologic vertical track.

Attendance to and participation in the daily clinical activities and meetings of the Hematology Unit.
