Obiettivi formativi
Il corso si propone di fornire un quadro teorico generale sulle relazioni tra sviluppo e turismo da una prospettiva geografica. L'analisi di studi di caso su diverse parti del mondo, con la partecipazione diretta degli studenti, completerà il corso.

Un approccio geografico per ripensare la realtà e le rappresentazioni del turismo e dello sviluppo.
Programma esteso
Il programma si concentrerà sui seguenti argomenti:
- un approccio critico alla geografia dello sviluppo, concetti e questioni;
- ripensare le categorie, le rappresentazioni e i discorsi del Nord e del Sud;
- turismo come fonte di sviluppo;
- relazioni tra sviluppo e turismo;
- il caso del pro-poor tourism, del turismo sociale, del turismo comunitario, del turismo politico e dell'anti-turismo;
- turismo come strumento di cooperazione internazionale e sviluppo economico.

Metodi didattici
Lezioni; seminari.
Tutte le attività sono svolte di persona secondo le seguenti modalità:
- 19 lezioni di 2 ore ciascuna svolte frontalmente con l'ausilio di presentazioni illustrative, schematiche e riassuntive;
- 6 lezioni di 2 ore ciascuna finalizzate a coinvolgere gli studenti in modo interattivo, sulla base di materiale integrativo precedentemente scelto dagli studenti e dalle studentesse stessi.
Sono previsti test in itinere per gli studenti frequentanti.
Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Tema scritto. La valutazione - basata su pertinenza, completezza, originalità e correttezza linguistica - avrà lo scopo di determinare la profondità e la maturità con cui è avvenuto l'apprendimento degli specifici obiettivi formativi.

Learning objectives
The course has the purpose to provide a general theoretical framework on the relations between development and tourism from a geographical perspective. The analysis of case-studies about different parts of the world, with a direct participation of the students, will complete the course.
Contents
A geographical approach in rethinking reality and representations of tourism and development.
Detailed program
The programme will focus on the following topics:
- a critical approach to geography of development, concepts and issues;
- rethinking North and South categories, representations and discourses;
- tourism as a source of development;
- relations between development and tourism;
- the case of pro-poor tourism, social tourism, community-based tourism, political tourism, and anti-tourism;
- tourism as a tool for international cooperation and economic development.

Teaching methods
Lectures; seminars.
All activities are carried out in person according to the following methods:
- 19 two-hour lessons carried out face-to-face with the aid of illustrative, schematic and summary presentations;
- 6 two-hour lessons aimed at involving students in an interactive way, based on supplementary material previously chosen by the students themselves.
Ongoing tests are planned for attending students.
Assessment methods
Written composition. The assessment – based on relevance, completeness, originality and linguistic correctness – will aim to determine the depth and maturity with which the learning of specific training objectives took place.
