Optical Properties and Phase Transitions in Chalcogenide Alloys for Applications in Non-Volatile Phase-Change Memory Devices.

STMicroelectronics, in collaboration with CNR-IMM in Agrate Brianza, is offering an experimental master’s thesis in Materials Science focused on the study of new chalcogenide-based alloys.

 The partial substitution of one of the elements in Ge-Sb-Te ternary alloys can lead to significant variations in physical and structural properties, with a major impact on the operation of memory cells. The project involves analyzing the optical and structural properties, including temperature-dependent behavior, of various compositions. By employing multiple experimental techniques, the aim is to correlate the properties of the materials with their composition.
