Obiettivi

  • le principali categorie di disturbi del sistema nervoso, con un focus particolare sui meccanismi fisiopatologici e sugli aspetti funzionali di base del sistema nervoso centrale;
  • i farmaci impiegati nel trattamento delle principali malattie del sistema nervoso periferico e centrale;
  • la nosologia e l’espressione clinica delle malattie neurologiche, nonché i principi per una corretta gestione di questi specifici disturbi neurologici;

Aims

Organized in different modules, the course aims to provide the students with the basic information on

  • the main categories of disorders of the nervous system, focusing mainly on the physio-pathological mechanisms and covering basic functional aspects of the central nervous system.
  • drugs acting on the main diseases of the peripheral and central nervous system
  • the nosology and clinical expression of the neurological diseases as well as the principles of the correct management of these specific neurological disorders
  • symptoms, classification, treatments, and epidemiology of main mental disorders.
  • the areas of application and effectiveness of the different psychological interventions

Relevant objectives encompass specific learning outcomes expected at the end of the course (Descrittori di Dublino).
Specifically, an improvement in the knowledge and understanding of the different issues on the physiopathological mechanisms and the basic functional aspects of the central nervous system; the drugs used in the treatment of the main diseases of the peripheral and central nervous system; the principles for the correct management of neurological disorders; features, classification, and epidemiology of the main mental disorders, is anticipated (knowledge and understanding; applying knowledge and understanding).
The course also aims to foster the development of soft skills in students, enabling a critical and informed use of basic information within mentioned topics (making judgements).
Similarly, another key objective is to promote effective communication within the relevant community (communication skills).
Consistently, the course seeks to equip students with the tools necessary to stay independently and continuously updated on issues relevant for the different modules of the course (learning skills).
