  • English proficiency qualification - LEVEL B2 (or higher)

    • To demonstrate their adequate knowledge of English, applicants must submit one of the following documents:

      a) Level-B2 English certificate, or higher, issued by a University-accredited Institution. Please note: certificates issued more than three calendar years before the date of application submission will not be accepted;
      b) English language examinations successfully completed during university studies, totalling a minimum of 5 CFUs at the B2 level
      c) A certified document issued by the University of Origin stating that the Bachelor’s Degree Programme attended by the applicant is entirely or almost entirely offered in English;
      d) ONLY FOR UNIMIB STUDENTS: Open Badge Bbetween Languages - English at a level B2, or higher. UNIMIB students, who do not yet possess it before applying for admission, can obtain it free of charge through Languages@Unimib
      English native language candidates are exempt from submitting a separate language proficiency certificate. Countries where English is considered a native language include United States, the United Kingdom, Canada (excluding Quebec), Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, and countries in the Caribbean where English is an official language.
       
      This curricular requirement must be fulfilled by the application deadline.
       
      Applicants holding an Italian qualification who do not meet this language requirement are permitted to take an in-person English proficiency assessment at the University of Milano-Bicocca. To register, applicants must contact the Admissions Office (ammissioni@unimib.it) with a formal request containing:
      • Subject line: "English test for MARINE SCIENCES - SCIENZE MARINE"
      • Details: The username provided for access to the Segreterie OnLine portal.
       
      Depending on the registration session, the candidate will be summoned during one of the following time windows:
      • 1st session: March 23 to March 30, 2026 (request sent by March 17)
      • 2nd session: June 22 to July 3, 2026 (request sent by June 16)
      • 3rd session: September 2 to September 7, 2026 (request sent by August 26)
      These dates are intended solely for external candidates, and the automatically assigned test date cannot be altered.
       
      The examination result will be provided immediately upon completion. Following this, the candidate is required to finalise their enrolment application on Segreterie OnLine, certifying that the language requirement has been met, no later than the application deadline.

      Students currently enrolled at the University of Milano-Bicocca should obtain their B2 English proficiency by registering for the monthly language test dates scheduled for their specific degree programme.
